ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza has said that Pakistan has paid a heavy price economically and socially in the fight against extremism.

She said that the United States should recognize the sacrifices that Pakistan has made in the war against terrorism and that the two countries need to work together.

The Speaker of the National Assembly said this during a meeting with US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter.

The US ambassador said that the United States appreciates and recognizes the sacrifices made by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. Munter also said that United States will not allow any destabalisation of Pakistan.

He also said that the strategic dialogue between the two countries is vital for stability in the region.
