HYDERABAD, June 20: A total of 11 persons died of diarrhoea in the past month while about 15,897 people were admitted to hospitals across 21 out of 23 districts of the province since May 13, according to health department officials.
The two diarrhoea-free districts during the past month were found to be Shikarpur and Kashmore.
However, most number of deaths (four) were reported from Badin while 2,379 diarrhoea patients remained under treatment at hospitals.
Two deaths each were reported from Jamshoro and Tharparkar districts, and one each from Sanghar, Sukkur and Khairpur districts.
In Karachi, about 5,856 cases of diarrhoea were reported and out of them 694 were admitted to various hospitals, said health officials.
In Hyderabad, more than 1,100 patients were admitted to hospitals out of a total of 4,521 reported cases.
Around 221 diarrhoea patients were admitted to hospitals in Jamshoro district, while 1,228 patients out of total 4,890 reported cases received hospital treatment in Thatta district.
In Mirpurkhas, there were 1,860 reported diarrhoea patients out of whom 624 were admitted to various hospitals for treatment.
A total of 352 patients received treatment in Sanghar, 1,922 in Umerkot and 697 in Tharparkar in May.—APP
