This is apropos of Bina Shah's article, “Political parties need women leaders” (June 23). It was heartening to see the call for more women as political leaders.
Indeed, our male-dominated society has led to the attachment of 'honorifics' to those women who are recognised in politics.
This has eventually led to only a few women who want to step into politics without any family dynasty to depend on.
Bina Shah has rightly recognised that the PML-N government needs to include women in the federal cabinet.
However, women can only be groomed for politics when we remove stereotypes and reform our norms which have been integrated into our homes and society.
This will allow women to pursue careers as political leaders and lawmakers without any qualms or hesitation.
