KARACHI: A trader was shot dead in Defence, Phase-VII, on Wednesday evening, the Gizri police said.

The 25-year-old trader, Mehmood Atiq, was attacked by gunmen on a motorcycle while he was sitting in his car on Khayaban-i-Sahar.

He sustained multiple bullet wounds and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police investigators found four casings fired from 30-bore pistol from the crime scene, said Clifton SP Abadit Nisar.

He said the victim was a trader. “The murder may be an outcome of some personal enmity,” the police officer said.

He said a scuffle had broken out between the victim and someone else in the area over playing cricket there which might have led the murder. However, he added that the police were probing the case.
