LAHORE: The FIA's immigration wing has arrested four members of an NGO on the charges of human smuggling.

Officials told Dawn that FIA's Lahore Director Dr Usman Anwar received a complaint from Dr Naveed Atif of Pakistan embassy in Oman that a gang was involved in fleecing the Pakistani community and Omani locals under the garb of NGO, the Human Rights Organisation, Lahore.

On Wednesday, four NGO members -- Kashif Sohail, Amna Sohail, Muhammad Amir and Muhammad Navid -- were arrested before boarding a Muscat-bound flight at the Allama Iqbal International Airport. They have been handed over to the anti-human trafficking cell.

The officials said the accused also collected money from philanthropists on the pretext of helping disabled persons. They have two more accomplices, Niazul Haq Pasha and Haji Arif. A case has been registered against them.
