LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday sent six alleged target killers to jail for an identification parade.

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) had arrested the suspects allegedly involved in the killing of many religious leaders, lawyers and doctors.

The agency produced the suspects before the court under strict security arrangements.

The official told the court that the arrested suspects confessed to 18 incidents of targeted killings during the initial interrogation.

The victims of suspects included Maulana Shamsur Rehman Muavia of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, advocates Shakir Ali Rizvi and Arshad Ali and Khurram Raza Qadri of Sunni Tehreek.

The suspects were identified as Abdul Rauf, Sabir Shah, Sheikh Farhan, Shafqat Farooqi, Muhammad Hashim and Suleman Pathan.

The official stated that since suspects were involved in high profile crime, their identification was required.

The court allowed the request and sent the suspects to jail for identification and directed the CIA to submit a report on April 25.

NOTICE: The Lahore High Court complaint cell on Saturday took notice of a press report about an incident wherein four suspects assaulted a woman and stabbed her on offering resistance.

The cell directed the Lahore district and sessions judge to look into the matter and submit a report within a week.

The victim woman had come to his uncle’s house in Chuhng area after having a scuffle with her husband in Okara. On the day of incident, she was standing at the cattle market stop when four men appeared and forcefully took her to nearby fields where they molested her.

On resistance, they injured her with a knife and escaped from the scene.

Police had registered a case against unidentified accused and started investigation.
