ISLAMABAD: A gang of robbers struck at a bank and looted over four million rupees worth of cash, along with the weapons of the security guards, police said on Saturday.

The police said that five persons, armed with weapons, raided the bank located at Soan Camp in Sihala and overpowered its two security guards at gunpoint besides snatching their weapons.

They held up the guards and staff of the bank at gunpoint and looted cash from the counter. Later, they moved to safe rooms and took the cash from there too, and escaped from the scene.

After getting the information, the police reached the spot and started collecting evidences.

The police said that the robbers were talking in Pashto and Punjabi accents and wearing masks during the robbery. The police received the close-circuited television (CCTV) camera footage of the robbery and are hopeful that it would help in tracing the robbers and lead to their arrest.
