2008 — the MQM joins the PPP government.

Jan 2011 — the MQM bids farewell to the PPP saying the government allowed a surge in petroleum prices only to rejoin the coalition in March.

June 2011 — the MQM quits the coalition in protest against the postponement of elections on two Karachi seats of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly and rejoins the coalition after over three months in October.

Feb 2013 — the MQM quits the federal and provincial governments just three months before the general elections in protest against what it describes as the PPP’s ‘negative attitude’.
