LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association has warned the government of strong agitation if former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf is allowed to go abroad on the pretext of visiting his ailing mother.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, bar president Shafqat Mahmood Chohan said Musharraf’s departure to Karachi reflected a move to send him abroad to avoid treason trial.
Chohan said the bar would devise its line of action if the government let the former military dictator leave the country.
He said lawyers would use different options, including protests and approaching the courts.
LHCBA Vice-President Amir Jalil Siddiqui and secretary Mian Ahmad Chichar were also present on the occasion.
The bar leaders also condemned attack on television anchor Hamid Mir and expressed their solidarity with the journalists’ community.
