SUKKUR: Growers from across Salehpat and Rohri talukas attended a meeting in Bhero village near Rohri on Thursday to highlight issues posing a serious threat to the agriculture sector and causing huge losses to all stakeholders.

The meeting was organised by the Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA).

SCA leaders Ghulam Hassan Chachar, Shahzado Chijjan, Jamshaid Mangrio, Khan Muhammad Mahar and others representing their respective districts said that agriculture had become the most neglected sector as no measures were being taken to improve farm production.

The participants in the meeting said that fake agriculture inputs including seeds and pesticides had flooded the market and causing huge losses to growers, who failed to meet production targets of their respective crops. No action was being taken to check the menace, they said.

Wheat growers were desperately waiting for gunny bags but the supply was not being ensured, they said, adding that desilting of canals could not be carried out to ensure proper water supply to tail-end growers.
