LAHORE: The Shaikh Zayed Hospital administration agreed on Thursday to disburse 10pc ad hoc allowance to the protesting paramedics of the institute according to the Punjab government’s policy.

It was decided in a meeting held between the representatives of the paramedics and the hospital management. The meeting was presided over by chief minister’s adviser on health Khwaja Salman Rafique. SZH Chairman Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal and other senior officials of the faculty and administration were also present.

The representatives of the protesting paramedics informed Khwaja Salman that the government had pledged disbursement of 10 per cent ad hoc allowance to them but they were deprived of that financial incentive.

After a discussion, both sides agreed to disburse the allowance among the employees and the CM’s adviser issued order to the administration to provide immediate relief to the paramedics.

The SZH paramedics had been on a strike for the last one week or so, resulting in postponement of many surgeries.

The protesters announced to end the strike shortly after the meeting.
