LAHORE: FBR personnel on Thursday thrashed two men involved in a tax evading case when they tried to resist arrest after dismissal of their bail petitions by a Lahore High Court judge.

Alleged tax evaders Salman, Afzal and Nauman of Faisalabad approached the court for confirmation of their interim pre-arrest bails in a case got registered by the FBR. They accused the board of implicating them in the case.

However, counsel for the board told the court the accused evaded millions of rupees tax by submitting fake invoices. He said the board had documentary evidence against them.

Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik heard both sides and dismissed the bail petitions of all the three accused.

'Unhappy' with the decision, the accused persons tried to flee the court premises to avoid their arrest. However, the FBR personnel chased them and got hold of Salman and Nauman, while Afzal fled away. The FBR men then gave a good thrashing to the arrested duo and shifted them to police station concerned.
