THIS is apropos Ikram Junaidi’s report ‘Anti-colour discrimination wants to change mindsets’ (April 21). It highlighted the bright mission of Fatima Lodhi. Her objective is to bring awareness against colour discrimination.
Furthermore, to discriminate on the basis of colour, sect, nationality, etc., seems a negative act. Discrimination creates hatred against the ones who discriminate. Also, it causes victims to suffer psychological disorders. Particularly, colour discrimination makes no sense at all. What counts is character-building.
To sum it up, never change your originality for the sake of others. No one can play your role better than you.

My daughter Farhana once described a typical Pakistani's view , saying that a good man is the one who is very religious, beautiful or handsome is the one who is white, and successful is the one who has got money. This mindset only creates problems for
everybody.

Reminds me of this poem, written by an African child and was nominated for the BEST POEM OF 2005.
When I born, I black;
When I grow up, I black;
When I go in sun, I black;
When I scared, I black;
When I sick, I black;
And when I die, I black;
And U White fellows;
When you born, U pink;
When U grow up, U white;
When U go in sun, U red;
When U cold, U blue;
When U scared, U yellow;
